How to Overcome a Write Protected Flashdisk

For how to overcome the write-protected flash drive, it is done using several methods. The most commonly used methods are via Regedit and CMD. The first method I will explain is through Regedit, I tend to use this method to overcome write protected on the flash.

1. Make sure you don't remove the flash drive, leave it plugged in. After that open, the Registry Editor tool by pressing Windows key + R then type Regedit and then Enter.

2. The Registry Editor window will appear. Please go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Currentcontrolset\Control\ folder. Find a folder called StorageDevicePolicies, if it doesn't exist, you can create it manually.

3. I assume the StorageDevicePolicies folder doesn't exist so we need to create it manually. Please right-click on the Control folder then select New > Key.

4. Then rename the folder to StorageDevicePolicies.

5. Right-click on the StorageDevicePolicies folder, then select DWORD (32-bit) Value if your windows use 32bit. But if your windows use 64bit, select QWORD (64-bit) Value.

6. Then rename it to WriteProtect. Then click 2X WriteProtect.

7. In the Value data column, fill in 0 while in the Base column, select Hexadecimal. Then select OK, and close the Registry Editor window.

8. Open Windows Explorer than on This PC / My Computer, refresh 5X. Next, remove your flash drive.

9. Re-plug your flash and format your flash as usual.

Those are some ways to easily overcome write-protected flash drives, even if they are done by ordinary people. Hopefully, this article is useful and the write-protected flash drive problem you are experiencing is resolved. Thank you and see you in the next tutorial!
